Three Tips to Get the Most Out of Your Audi

Posted on: 6 February 2017

Audi is a high-quality, powerful luxury vehicle with seemingly unlimited features. Just like all other high-end cars, Audi requires more to operate and maintain than lower-end vehicles. However, with the proper care, your Audi will be an attractive, reliable vehicle that you can count on for a long time. If you're new to Audi ownership, here are three tips to keep your car looking and driving like new.

Hand Wash

Whether you do it yourself or take it to be hand detailed, hand washing is the safest way to clean your Audi. Automatic car washes with revolving bristles can shorten the life span of your paint, as can high pressure washing equipment. Hand washing is a safe, gentle way to remove dirt and grime from your car. Keep in mind that the longer you leave tree sap, insects, bird droppings, and road salt on your car, the more damage it's doing to your paint, so wash your car regularly. Always use plenty of water, a soft sponge, and cleaning products that are recognized as safe for your car's exterior. Avoid washing your car in direct sunlight to prevent damage to your paint.

Maintenance Routine

Changing the oil, rotating the tires, and servicing the engine are regular maintenance duties that help keep your car running smooth and efficiently. Failing to do these things can result in costly repairs. Purchasing a comprehensive maintenance plan helps ensure that your vehicle is properly maintained on schedule. It's recommended that you have your Audi serviced every 10,000 miles, or once a year, whichever comes first. Keeping your car serviced regularly results in a higher resale value, better fuel efficiency, prolonged vehicle life and ensures that you don't affect your warranty. At each service interval, the technician will perform specific tasks, such as brake, cooling, exhaust, and engine compartment inspections, to ensure that your car continues to run properly.

Interior

To maintain the quality of your Audi, it's important not to neglect the interior. Regularly wipe down the interior surfaces of your vehicle with a safe solution and keep mirrors clean. The leather interior requires particular care as well. The primary type of leather used in Audi vehicles is Nappa, and it's vulnerable to dirt and stains because it doesn't have a protecting surface coating. Every two to three months have the inside of your car detailed. If you choose to do it yourself, use a suitable cream on the leather that has UV protection after cleaning.
